Sabatino Aracu

Our Italian friends have posted a picture and the email address of Sabation Aracu, the Italian MP for the right-wing party Forza Italia, who behaved like a dictator in yesterday's FIRS meeting.

Stop spreading confussion!!. There is no catalan nation and for that reason there is no catalan "national" team.
Today Catalonia, to all the legal effects, is just a region of Spain, not a country , a state or a nation. Perhaps this situation could change in the near future, but at this moment this is the true and only reality. If someday in the future, Catalonia is a true and recognized nation or state, then it will be able to have its "national team", but today this is just impossible.

You can be a nation without sovereign. Don't you know ? Scotland is a nation, but not a state. WOW !!!!!!! R u saying that there aren't nations without a state in the world ? What about Palestina ? And Tibet? Kosova ? Northern Ireland ? Chechenia ?

If you cannot understand the difference between State and Nation, perhaps you need a bit of help.

Taipei (China), Macao (China), Hong Kong (China) are not states, and are FIRS members. Scotland also. Think about it.

I'm afraid your comment is innacurate. Catalonia is recognised as a nation in the Spanish Constitution.
In Article 2, the Spanish constitution guarantees and recognises the right of autonomy of the nations and regions that make up Spain.

"LA CONSTITUCION SE FUNDAMENTA EN LA INDISOLUBLE UNIDAD DE LA NACION ESPAÑOLA, PATRIA COMUN E INDIVISIBLE DE TODOS LOS ESPAÑOLES, Y RECONOCE Y GARANTIZA EL DERECHO A LA AUTONOMIA DE LAS NACIONALIDADES Y REGIONES QUE LA INTEGRAN Y LA SOLIDARIDAD ENTRE TODAS ELLAS"

Sorry, but in this text i do not see the smaller reference to "the Catalan nation".Here, the only mentioned nation is the Spanish, and the text only talks about the recognition of the autonomy and the national IDENTITY of the REGIONS, but always within the context of the Spanish nation.

You say that Catalonia is just one part of Spain, but this is not true. You should ask the people in Perpignan (France) what they are and they will tell you they are catalans.

This is so because Catalonia was broken up and assimilated by Spain and France.

Thus your affirmation that Catalonia is just one region of Spain is false.

An finally, let me remind you that this assimilation was done by military force. Would you really need military force to conquer just one region?
